What an amazing culmination to the British flat season! With Jamie Spencer winning the last race of the season, for only the third time in history the jockeys’ championship was shared between he and Seb Sanders. Interest now switches to the ‘jumps’ season, which is already well underway following the weekend Open meeting at Cheltenham and some of the leading contenders for the major prizes this season making their seasonal reappearances recently. This month our feature article focuses on Saturday’s Betfair Chase at Haydock. Will Kauto Star repeat last year’s feat of winning all before him and in doing so scoop the Betfair Million at Cheltenham in March?

British boxing has been in the spotlight lately with Joe Calzaghe becoming the undefeated WBO and IBF Super Middleweight Champion earlier this month. On the 9th of December in Las Vegas it’s the turn of Ricky ‘the Hitman’ Hatton to go to battle. This month in Sport of the Month we look at boxing and more specifically what is being billed as the fight of the decade as the two undefeated pugilists Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather enter the ring.
