The new Betfair Interface

The Betfair IT team are a focused bunch. To be fair, it’s pretty vital in their chosen vocation. Just lately they have surpassed themselves, putting their technical heads together to create an exciting new interface – you’ve probably already encountered it when navigating the site.

At first glance the enhancements may only seem aesthetic but the new User Interface (UI in “techy” talk) offers plenty of additional functionality, which you’ll only find if you delve a little deeper, here INPLAY introduces the new features to look out for:

Jockey names, silk colours and saddle numbers

Horse racing fans will appreciate the addition of jockey names, silk colours and saddle numbers next to runners on all UK & Irish races. Better still is the runner information; trainer and recent running form. Rather than spending time surfing the net for this valuable analysis all you need to do is “mouse over” the runner’s name et voila! If you find either of these features isn’t for you simply turn them off via the Options panel and Help tab respectively.

Express View bet placement interface

If you don’t place lay bets, and just want to get on with it, then the new Express View (EV) will be right up your street. The EV is a bet placement user interface that only displays the current best available back prices – lay, liquidity and market depth details aren’t shown when the EV preference is selected. The Express View is available on all market types except line and range.

Enhanced back and lay colours

Judging by the new Market View design, someone in the IT team must have been a Tony Hart fan in their youth. No, there’s no sign of Morph, but the stronger colours and more clickable looking price boxes have already won approval. The enhancements are also functional, and will particularly benefit users of Mozilla Firefox for navigation purposes.

Improved Just in Time help

Betting can be a confusing business, especially the terminology. If I told the man on the street “I lumped a monkey on the jolly, couldn’t believe it when it got chinned on the line!” you’d probably get reported to the RSPCA...We appreciate not everyone is a betting authority and to help explain some of the intricacies of the Betfair site we’ve added a Help tab in the Bet Manager which will explain key terms and concepts in the betting interface – so everyone will know their Asian Handicap from their Range bet.

Live football scores

Finally, following requests, soccer punters can see the latest live scores in the market view of match odds market (games that go in-play games only). You’ll also find them in Soccer coupons.

A great amount of consideration and effort has gone into this release, which marks the start of many site improvements as we approach the World Cup. We hope you enjoy the new interface and rest assured INPLAY will report future enhancements when they launch in the new feature.
