Information is king if you’re going to punt successfully. Many customers ask us where they can find more information to help them get an edge. And others request help with getting to grip with the exchange when they first join.
We took all of this on board before we launched www.betfair.info. It offers help to those who are unsure of how Betfair works and provides valuable information to those who want to ‘study’ before they place their bet. Betfair.info has many features and services that can not only be utilised by complete newcomers, but also by more experienced users who wish to take their activities on Betfair to the next level.
And it’s proving very popular. With ever increasing volumes of customers finding their way to the site, interest is building day to day. Indeed, Betfair.info now averages in excess of 30,000 visitors a month. We’re continuing to add content and have just released a further range of services and information. Here’s a reminder of what you’ll find if you’ve visited already – and there’s plenty of reasons to test it out if you haven’t been there before now.
The first stop for many new customers on betfair.info is the "Knowledge" section where you can further your understanding of what Betfair is all about. The ‘Demo’ is a particularly useful feature as it goes through almost every basic aspect of Betfair from how it works right through to the bet placement process. It also shows you how to manage your account through deposits and withdrawals and explains our commission format - crucial when calculating those all important winnings!
Admittedly, some new customers struggle to initially grasp Betfair and so aren’t ready to immediately take the plunge and use their hard earned before they’ve understood how to Betfair. In order to help these customers up the exchange learning curve, we have a ‘Play for Fun’ site. Using ‘Betfair dollars’ you can bet on the weeks’ soccer matches and familiarise yourself with backing and laying without risking real cash.
But a customers’ thirst for knowledge doesn’t stop when they become accustomed to the ways of the exchange so we’ve recently added several articles on more sophisticated betting techniques and examples of classic ‘in-play’ moments from 2005.
Proof that betfair.info still has plenty to offer for the more advanced user comes in the Services section. You’ll find the Betfair Developers Program which allows customers to access Betfair via customised applications giving greater control, flexibility and choice in how you use the exchange. The Services Directory provides links to a number of websites covering every sport that Betfair allows you to bet on. This is an excellent resource for those who want to research upcoming events before having a bet. You’ll also find details of our Refer and Earn programme and Betfair Poker!
The "Tools" sections is another excellent resource for the avid punter. The TV Listings section, provides a schedule for every sporting event that is due to be televised in the upcoming week. So it is even easier to plan your week around the key sporting events.
The next three links in the "Tools" section are all statistically based and focus on poker, soccer and tennis respectively. The poker application focuses on probabilities that arise after one is dealt their first two cards. These probabilities are used to help the player make the decision whether to ‘hold or fold’. The soccer statistics are provided by OPTA – you check out the form and see live score updates and text commentary for games from the Premiership and German Bundesliga. Finally, Tennis punters will find head to head records and past results from all the major tournaments worldwide.
This section is where you’ll find INPLAY – it’s hosted here so you can refer back to it at any time and look up previous editions for information and tips. The other aspects that make up "Community" include access to the Forum, Customer Offers and here is also where we put our sports related content. So currently you’ll find our Ashes site for latest news and information on what has become one of the most epic Test Series ever. Or Betfair Soccer – with a significant focus on the English Premiership and the US Open.
This is where you’ll find news on the site and advance warnings of any planned time when the site would be unavailable. In the next week we are going to add further information here. We’ll be able to increase the level of detail and the frequency with which we update you and we will also have a Release Notes section. We’ll list line by line the specific detail on updates we’ve made so it is clear what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. We hope you’ll find this increased level of communication extremely valuable.
