Competition Terms and Conditions

  1. You must be a UK or Ireland resident and aged 18 years or over to enter this competition. None of the employees or any family members of employees of Betfair may enter.
  2. To stand a chance of winning you must describe an emoticon in under 50 words which Betfair then create, a Betfair panel will then choose the winning design from the entries. You must also ensure that you correctly fill in the entry form and click the ‘submit’ button. Alternatively you can email your design suggestion, with your Full Name, Email address, and Betfair Username to competitions@betfair.com. In the Subject line, put “INPLAY Forum Emoticon Promotion”.
  3. The closing date for receipt of entries is midnight on 19th May 2005. Competition entries not received by Betfair before this time will not be eligible.
  4. Shortly after the closing date, the name of one entrant whose design is deemed the best will be selected by a Betfair panel. The winner will receive an £100 creditable to their Betfair account. Assuming all other conditions have been met the selected individual will be declared the winner.
  5. The winner will be notified by email by 20th May 2005. If for any reason beyond Betfair’s control, Betfair is unable to make contact with the winner within 5 days of sending the email, then Betfair reserves the right to select another winner based on who the Betfair panel deem to have created the second best emoticon design.
  6. Multiply entries will be permitted
  7. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable.
  8. By entering this competition, in the event that you are the winner you agree to reasonable use of your name and image as well as use of your emoticon design on the Betfair websites and in promotional materials produced by or on behalf of Betfair.
  9. You hereby assign any and all copyright or other intellectual property rights in your entry to Betfair for Betfair’s unrestricted usage and agree to do all such acts and/or execute or procure the execution of all such documents in a form reasonably satisfactory to Betfair to confirm Betfair’s full ownership of such rights.
  10. The name of the winner can be obtained by sending an email after the closing date to info@betfair.com or by writing to Betfair at Waterfront, Hammersmith Embankment, Chancellors Road, London W6 9HP. All emails and letters should be clearly marked “INPLAY Forum Emoticon Promotion”.
  11. Betfair in its sole discretion reserves the right to withdraw or vary the terms of this competition and/or any offer made in connection with it any reason and shall not be held liable to any entrant for so doing.
  12. The decision of Betfair in respect of any matter concerning or related to this competition is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  13. You agree that these terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England.
  14. The promoter of the prize draw is Betfair, the trading name for The Sporting Exchange Limited of Waterfront, Hammersmith Embankment, Chancellors Road, London W6 9HP, a UK registered company.
